#11 Anime on MyAnimeList canceled by Funimation and Amazon Prime

Apparently once the censorship train has left the station, there’s no turning back.

Earlier this week, anime streaming giant Funimation canceled a highly viewed adult comedy anime after the run of its fifth episode in the winter 2020 anime slot.

Not long after, two licensers of the show, Amazon Prime and Tokyo MX, have also followed suit and canceled the show on their streaming service and TV channel, respectively.

Honestly, this comes with little shock since the show is a comedy, based in a fantasy world and follows a group of brothel reviewers as they journey through red light districts and recount their sexual exploits with various demi-humans in great detail.

To anyone who has watched the show, it’s much more of a surprise that they ran it in the first place than hearing that they canceled it, especially with the fifth episode’s reported removal of stickers that were previously blocking the most sensitive parts of the lewd artwork. Already bordering the line between ecchi and hentai, this was just too much for Funimation.

So what’s in store for the viewers who found this series as hilarious as it was explicit?

Well, for now, it appears that a select few Japanese networks are continuing to air the season, meaning that it will most likely only be available either in Japan or through illegal torrents and streaming sites, until the official releases are shipping (currently on pre-order for April 24th, 2020).

Despite these cancellations, Ishuzoku Reviewers (Interspecies Reviewers in English) remains very highly ranked, currently at #11 of all anime on My Anime List, and had allegedly hit as high as #4 in the all time anime rankings before today.
